Grandma & Grandpa Meet Charlie!

What a weekend we had with Grandma and Grandpa Veit! Charlie came along for the ride to the airport to pick them up and they were smitten from the beginning. We were lucky enough to have great weather for the weekend and a very cooperative child who allowed us to go out to eat a few times over the weekend. We made up for missing out on Cinco de Mayo by hitting up our fav local mexican restaurant US Border on Saturday night. Charlie also attended his second mass in as many weeks and was quite the little angel as he snoozed away in his car seat. He also got to meet Fr. Mark (the guy that married his mommy and daddy) for the first time.

Mommy and Grandma were kind enough to allow Daddy and grandpa to go catch 18 holes at McCabe on a picture perfect Monday morning. Ol Dad whipped up on Grandpa pretty good and came one stroke away from finally breaking 100! Once little man is old enough to swing a club, Dad is going to take him down to McCabe to hit some balls so he can one day join the PGA tour and Mom and Dad can retire early.

Grandma and Grandpa had to go back to Texas on Monday night, but we had a great time visiting with them, and Charlie already misses them.

Charlie has recently graduated to the bottle for some of his feedings and he had no trouble adjusting to that AT ALL! You would have thought he was some frat boy chugging a beer on his first bottle - dude knocked it out in no time. Hard to believe it, but Charlie will be one month old Sunday! How the time flies! Here are some more pictures of the weekend.

Stay tuned for Charlie's first video coming next week!

¡Feliz Cinco de Mayo!

Yes, yes we did our best to reign in the Mexican holiday as only proud new parents could. In the past, we might have found ourselves celebrating the day on the porch of some mexican restaurant, drowning in a pitcher of margaritas and virtually drinking the white cheese dip from the bowl. But unfortunately we are not at the point where we can take our newborn child into that kind of raucous atmosphere (few more weeks).

So we did our best to celebrate mexican heritage (it's not mexican independence day - that falls on Sept 16 - thank you wikipedia) by donning sombreros we found in the garage and playing some latin music as we cooked up a mexican feast. We even let Charlie in on the action by squeezing a little lime on Katie's nipple shield before she breastfed.

Charlie had his two week check up today with Dr. Long, and he is now a robust 10 pounds! He is a growing boy no doubt and he LOVES to eat. He still does not interact very much, although when he isn't nursing or sleeping he is quite a pleasant child. He just kind of looks around as if he is still trying to figure out what happened to that nice dark warm home he used to live in.

Katie is doing great and is really got this mom thing down! It is amazing how the weight just melts away when you breastfeed - it is hard to imagine that she had a medicine ball in her belly just two weeks ago.

Grandma and Grandpa Veit get to meet Charlie this weekend! We are all very excited and might even bring Charlie to the airport so he can meet them as soon as possible. We will have more pictures of this weekend up ASAP.

Speaking of pictures, ol' Dad (yours truly) got a little fancy with the camera this weekend and learned that a photographers best friend is a mini-tripod. See the new pictures here:
