I guess you could say that this video is less of a chic-flick compared to the last...well it's still baby focused, so i guess that's not true...let's call this one dramedy (drama-comedy) rather than a drama...how is that?
Charlie had his two month check up yesterday. TWO MONTHS! Can you believe it? Katie was a little apprehensive about him getting his shots - he had three for this visit - she was joking that not only would Charlie need some sedation, but her as well. We considered bringing along a flask of tequila and a stick to bite on, but then we would have had to get someone to drive us home.
Nevertheless, our brave little man did SO WELL with his first round of vaccines - thanks to the nurse. she had those three shots done in a matter of 8 seconds. I felt like I was watching a calf-dressing competition at the rodeo. Charlie didn't even know what hit him until halfway through the second needle. He fussed a little bit - but no blood curdling screams - Mommy cuddled him tight and in no time he was doing a-ok.
Well, enough writing - I will let the video do the talking. I didn't realize that blogger does not allow you to watch video full screen, so this one is posted on youtube. you should be able to view this one full screen - be sure to read the captions!
cheers!
well - it turns out you need to go to You Tube to see it full screen. To do so go to youtube.com and search for "Charlie's All Smiles" - and you will see Uncle Jimmer feeding the little man in the thumbnail.

Heavenly Day
The long awaited video of Charlie's birth is here! Don't worry this is not a graphic video that's going to make you put the pillow over your face. It's more of a slideshow/video put to a really good song that inspired both Katie and I during our week at Baptist hospital.
This video is a recounting of the day Charlie came into the world - stay tuned for more videos of Charlie's first months at home that include him riding a skateboard and wrestling a three legged kitten.
While the video is uploading I will take a moment to update you on some milestones that Charlie has accomplished the last time we spoke. I will list these in bullet form for your convenience (and mine).
• smiling on occasion now (and not just when he fills his britches)
• he has gotten over his nasal congestion (good thing - he hated that turkey baster thing we kept shoving up his little nose)
• Charlie has moved out of Mom and Dad's room and into his own digs (bittersweet). Although Mom and Dad have been known to let him in bed with us after his 6am feeding for some good 'nuggling (that's snuggling in katiese...katiese is virtually a refined version of pig latin whereas you still drop the first letter of the word, but don't add the -nay at the end. Another example would be 'tinky (instead of stinky) which has become Charlie's unofficial nickname.
• Charlie gets to talk (well, cooing mostly) AND see his grandparents back in Texas via Skype and the cool webcam we have on our new computer. He also got to meet his Great Grandma Veit for the first time over Skype. What an eye opening experience that was for her to see her great grandson over the internet! Unfortunately Skype hasn't invented the means to transport her cookies or chicken soup over the internet. For those of you that want to join us on Skype, go here to download the free software, install it and under add contacts, just do a search for Katie Veit. Even if you dont have a webcam, you can still sign up for free voice chat.
• Charlie is just about 13 pounds now and will be going in for his TWO MONTH check up next week. Can't believe its been two months already!
• The activity mat has become a good source of stimulation for little Charlie. He's quite smitten with the little sun that hangs from the foam bars above his head. It's completely unfair. If my face lit up and sang cute little Mozart ditties, I could probably engage him that much too. Stupid sun.
Well that's about it. Video has 10MB to go. I hope that when folks want to watch this they don't have to wait long for it to download. Oh yeah! I almost forgot! Charlie's newest cousin, Tommy is going to be coming into the world very soon! He can't wait to hear all about it! Best of luck Aunt Nancy. Wow that was weird. Aunt Nancy!
We hope to have some more updates and videos soon. Hope everyone has a great week. Enjoy the show!

6 weeks and holding....
it's really hard to believe that 6 short weeks ago......charlie had just arrived and was only 12 hours old at this time! it's amazing to me that such a little person can change your life in ways that you never thought possible. little charlie is about 12 pounds and growing. he has changed so much since he was born, saying only a few words and starting to walk........HA!! no, but he is more alert (a good thing when you have time to kill.....not so great at 3 a.m. when he's ready to party) but holding his head up, smiling a little (i know it can't be gas, he knows me), and eating like a horse! much to my dismay, i had to give up the breast feeding thing.......but i do pump every 3 hours, and he takes a breast milk bottle. i feel like i should be out in the front yard on all fours chewing on some cud like a cow at times, but i don't mind it at all.....as long as he stays healthy and strong!
i took little charlie to work with me a few times, and he did just great! i was a nervous wreck as to how he would behave, would he cry, would he eat, but he fit right in with the old folks! sleeping, pooping and hanging out just like he was one of them!
his sleeping is decent! he goes to bed at around 9 p.m., and wakes up at 2:30 to eat.....Chris and i take turns at that feeding, and then he's up again around 6:30-7:30 a.m. sometimes i grab him and put him in the bed with us to cuddle, and it's one of my most favorite times with him. he is a snuggler for sure!
well, the little man is fast asleep, and i should be as well! we are working on a video of pictures and highlights from his time here on earth.........so stay tuned for that!!
love,
katie
